New one-click installers

If you frequently create applications in the control panel you might notice that the drop-down where you select the application and the version keeps getting longer :)

This is because we're constantly adding more tools and more versions. Today we just added the freshly released TurboGears-1.0.4.2 and Joomla-1.5.

Other installers we added recently include the latest versions for Rails, WordPress, Zope, Plone and Trac.

When are we going to see one-click installers for RadiantCMS?

An official installer for Radiant CMS isn't planned though I plan on creating one once its admin supports my browser of choice. (Opera)

What's the recommended upgrade path for older Trac sites?

If you don't need to run multiple Trac versions side by side deleting ~/bin/trac-admin/ and ~/lib/python2.4/trac/, creating a new application which uses the desired version of Trac, and upgrading your Trac environments is the way to go.

To upgrade your Trac environments see the "Trac Macros, Plugins", "Update the Trac Documentation", and "Upgrade the Trac Environment" parts of http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracUpgrade. Trac applications use CGI so there's no need to restart anything afterwards.

Hope it helps. :)

@ David on Radiant,

I think thats an awfully silly reason to not port Radiant as a one-click-install. Opera retains less than 5% of all browser usage. Please reconsider.
