Multiple SSH and SFTP users

We've just added a much requested feature to the control panel: from now on you can create additional SSH and SFTP users under the same hosting account. If you're a team of people this allows you to give each person their own SSH or SFTP user on the web server.

You can manage these SSH and SFTP users from "Account->SSH/sftp users" in the control panel.

Awesome! I had used WebDAV as a workaround, but this is idea. Thanks.

I have a question. I've created a new 'SFTP only' user named 'dad' under my account. When I use WinSCP (connecting via SFTP), it defaults to his home directory (/home2/dad/). I guess I expected it to go to the same home directory as my account. When I navigate in WinSCP to my home account, it says I do not have permission to access it. Is this how it was designed to behave? I thought that doing this would allow this newly created user to access the files in my home directory, not a newly created home directory. Makes me wonder what would happen if I create a new user that happens to have the same username as someone who already exists on home2. Am I interpreting this feature incorrectly?

I agree with Matt. I would have expected this feature to be creating users with the same group, at least....

Matt and Brendan: You're right :) The multiple SSH and SFTP users is only half of the work, and the other half is coming soon: the ability to manage your linux groups. That way you'll be able to share directories amongst users.

The control panel won't let you use a username that's already used on the machine.
